Longlasting Youth
(Le cose che restano)
Longlasting Youth, the follow-up to The Best of Youth (La meglio gioventù), is a television miniseries with such cinematic quality that it deserves to be seen on the big screen. A special presentation at last year's Rome International Film Festival, it will also be a major event here screening in four parts.
Following the progress of the central family and the repercussions on their lives through significant social events from the 1990s onwards, this is the story of a family that drifts apart and a house that is left empty following a personal loss. Yet it is also the story of how that home and the family are put back together again, thanks to the presence - and influence - of new lives. Nora (Paola Cortellesi), Andrea (Claudio Santamaria), Nino (Lorenzo Balducci) and their father Pietro (Ennio Fantaschini) make a courageous effort to react to their loss and disorientation, seeking new worlds, new loves and new reasons for living.
Gianluca Maria Tavarelli's ambitious, challenging and emotionally rewarding series is both large in scope and also an intimate portrait of its characters, who are portrayed superbly by the all-star cast.
Feature film will screen in 4 parts, with English subtitles
